About us

Building real machinery in Bergen.

Design, machining, controls and testing sit together in our own workshop, so what we learn on the rig goes straight back into the next part.

Why Rockslice exists

A little rock had to go. The job around it was big.

Jesper Tveit

Jesper needed to remove a small amount of rock for a garage in Bergen. Everything around it made the job hard. He came up with the cutting method and built the first experiments at home.

Nikolai Nordbotn

Started as an adviser to Rockslice, then joined as co-founder. Works with customers and capital.

Where
Our own workshop in Bergen, Norway, working with external suppliers.
Stage
Several prototypes built and tested. Now integrating the complete system for field tests.
Patent
Norwegian patent NO 349064, granted September 2025, for the defined mechanical architecture. International application PCT/NO2025/050030 received a positive patentability report in 2026 and is now pending in Europe, the US, Japan, China, South Korea, Australia and Canada.

The team

Five people, one workshop.

    StartupLab Bergen. Former Sustainability Manager.

  4. Liam Nolan

    Senior Mechatronics Engineer

Surgical robotics at Ethicon in California.

  5. Daniel Hammer

    Senior Mechatronics Engineer

Mechanical design. Newell Brands, Graco and Kickr Design.

How we work

What we learn on the rig goes straight back into the design.

  1. A team member at a desk with a 3D model of the blade and arm on screen

    Design

Head, arm and blade are drawn and revised as 3D models.

  2. Two team members looking closely at work on a bench

    Make

Parts are machined and assembled in our own workshop.

  3. Daniel pointing at an oscilloscope on the electronics bench

    Test

Controls and electronics are checked on the bench, then on the rig.

  4. Three team members around the electronics bench by a window over the harbour

    Listen

We review the work together and change it when the people who would use it point out a problem.

Our ambition

Our ambition is to set a new standard for how the world cuts rock and concrete.
